First Post!
Welcome to my blog! For my first post I'd like to let you know what to expect from this blog. Needless to say, this is first and foremost a blog about my photographic experiences here in Japan. Not only do I want to provide useful information to you, the reader, but also I want it to serve as a way to reflect on my photographic journey. I only hope that I can convey these experiences in a way that is interesting and informative.
I'm a big believer in shooting locally. There are a ton of photographs to be had just outside your door, be it front or back. I consider myself lucky that Shiga Prefecture, where I live, is an extremely photogenic place. From expansive mountain landscapes, a huge lake, temples galore, to intimate nature scenes, Shiga really has everything a photographer could want. I want to introduce many locations to you, whether it's my local park or an overnight backpacking trip into the high country.
I hope to keep my blog current with the season. So if it's summer you can expect summer related topics and some interesting locations to photograph it. I tend not to do much hiking in summer though, because of the heat and humidity. Also, it is leech season and I wasn't very happy to find them full of my blood when I got home last time. Yeah, I'm a wimp when it comes to that kind of stuff.
This blog is also intended to be about the adventure and experience rather than about technical details or instruction. Not that I think Iʻm in any position to give such instruction. I was never one for tech talk, but if I try out new lenses, cameras, or whatever I'll let you know what I think in a casual manner. You wonʻt see any nitpicking ISO performance articles here.
Finally, I want to be responsive to any comments and/or suggestions. If you have something to ask or say please feel free to shoot me an email or leave a comment below. I'm also on Instagram (Facebook/Twitter in the future?) where I'll post my latest images and news along with this blog. Thanks for reading this first post.
Please check out some photos I have already put up on my website if you have time. Mahalo for reading!
